MUSIC & ARTS
We are delighted to be a 2017/18 Music Mark School Member. This reflects the hard work by Miss Wray to ensure the children at GFS are able to access and engage with a high-quality music education. www.musicmark.org.uk
Music Lessons
Pupils are offered a number of opportunities to play musical instruments during the school day at Garden Fields.
If your child would like to play an instrument, please speak to the office staff about peripatetic music lessons. We currently offer:
- Flute
- Violin (Suzuki Method)
We are working with the Music Service to secure teachers in other instruments including guitar and piano.
Note: Children can start Suzuki violin from Reception. For other instruments children start from Year 3 upwards. You can ask for your child to join the waiting lists from Year 2. Fees for lessons are payable on a termly basis – some families may qualify for Remission of Music Fees – click HERE for more details.
The St Albans Music School also offer a large number of individual and group music lessons which take place after school or at the weekend. You can also apply to be added to a school waiting list. Details can be found on the Music School website.
Music Blog
You can keep up to date with the latest news from our Music Teacher, Miss Wray on the Music Blog. The blog is also used to share music with the children. If you require any passwords, please contact the school with your request.
Extra curricular
We also offer a number of extra curricular clubs for music and arts including orchestra club, KS1 & KS2 choir.
Below is an example of our KS2 choir singing at the school concert in October 2017 led by our music teacher, Miss Wray.
