Welcome

Welcome to Garden Fields

I am delighted to introduce you to Garden Fields JMI School. This website has been prepared to provide parents and interested parties with an overview of information about Garden Fields’ organisation, curriculum and other statutory documents. It also will give you an insight into our ethos and values that flow throughout our school community.

At our school, we aim to develop our children not just academically, but also socially and morally. We provide a high level of pastoral care and a wide variety of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities which run in conjunction with our stimulating and exciting curriculum.

Garden Fields is now a one-form entry school just north of the city centre. Dating back to 1896 and our old home in Catherine Street, we are one of the oldest schools in St Albans. In the 1970’s we moved to our existing school site, with its fabulous grounds and teaching spaces which include: a large school field, a forest school area, outdoor theatre, library and five playgrounds. Additionally, we have our own breakfast and after school club, ‘The Hub’, which operates onsite.

The school is proud to be part of Ambition Education Trust (AET). More information can be found here

I would encourage you to explore the website further to gain a better understanding about life at Garden Fields and the many opportunities that our school offers its children. Should you have any further queries or to book a visit to the school, please telephone or email the school office.

"The teachers are fantastic. They know our children, and always respond promptly to any concerns. They are encouraging and instil a love of learning."
"The school is absolutely brilliant and so supportive of my daughter."
"My child is academically thriving and requires very little support at home, which reflects the strength of the teaching and learning at school. I appreciate the school’s ongoing efforts to increase parent involvement and the wide range of enriching trips and diverse activities offered to the children.  Improvements to school amenities have been very positive."
"Our school is wonderfully diverse & we should celebrate this! The day when children came in dressed in clothes from their heritage was really wonderful & impressive to see."
"My child has gained confidence since starting at the school. Made some lovely new friends and his athletic abilities have improved he got a 4 minute parkrun PB the other day."
